I did try several settings, nothing really seemed to fix it.
Silence detection would cause some calls to drop, so no go there.
I don't believe the Shaw "DPTs" (SBV5120/SBV5220 VoIP cable modems) support
the disconnect supervision.
I haven't tried again recently.

That sounds like Shaw is not doing "disconnect supervision"

Did you play with the SPA3k PSTN Disconnect Detection settings? There are a

of options to play with.
