[*] amr-nb codec ...

Hi there -- I have a "few" pbx's and one of the items I'm playing with now
is to get an amr-nb codec on my older pbx.

The amr-nb codec is defined here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptive_Multi-Rate_audio_codec
I've followed the install instructions on the current version here:
http://ftp.penguin.cz/pub/users/utx/amr/

and i've stuck the library in my /usr/lib/asterisk/modules directory
(similar to how i stalled the g729 codec) ... although, asterisk does not
recognize the codec shared object.

the device i'm using is a blackberry 9700 (wifi only) with the linphone for
blackberry (on the version 5 os - dont laugh ) ...

the registration works fine ... (if i specify the ip address, not the name)
..
and the dialing works fine (so the sip signalling works great) ..
i can try to call another extension, but it will fail with:
NOTICE[2922] chan_sip.c: No compatible codecs, not accepting this offer!
i do want to be able to interact with the pbx, not just from device to
device -- hopefully have the pbx do the codec translation :-)
the signalling does work - if i call my device from another device, it does
ring, but cannot setup the media because of the codec missing.

anyone have a setup working or have info on how to get the amr-nb to
function on asterisk? I've got various flavours from 1.4 to 1.8 ... i've
probably done something not quite right -- any tips?

Dan.
