I guess I'm making the assumption that whatever you would be deploying on a
single 1U server in one of Winnipeg's datacenters would not be particularly
important and therefore wouldn't need much of what a data centre would
offer. Nor would you likely have extreme security concerns.

Small VMs in the cloud start around $60/mo though admittedly you would have
to add to that to bring it up to the equivalent of a dedicated host.
